Confessions of a Book Blogger: Why I Went MIA

Intro

Let’s get this out of the way first:
Yes, I abandoned my blog.
No, it wasn’t planned.
Yes, I still kept buying books like I was running a secret underground library.

If you’ve ever taken a break from your blog, you know the feeling: one week off turns into a month, then suddenly it’s been forever. I didn’t plan on disappearing—but here I am, finally returning to book blogging after a break… and bringing all my bookish chaos with me.

This isn’t a formal “I’m back!” post. It’s more like a book blogger confessional. A little messy. A little dramatic. And very real.

☕️ Confession #1: I had a whole TBR… and read none of it.

Ah, the sweet delusion of a carefully curated TBR list. I had plans for April, May, June—beautiful plans.
And yet… I read completely different books. Or none at all. Or I just stared at my shelf while scrolling TikTok.

📚 Are you also a mood reader who completely ignores your own reading plans?
📚 Have you ever made a monthly TBR and then read something entirely random instead?

📚 Confession #2: I didn’t read that much… and that’s okay.

I wish I could say I spent my blogging break flying through stacks of books. But in reality? I barely finished a few.
Between life, burnout, and just feeling kind of meh, my attention span was MIA.

One of the few books I did read was Daisy Haites, and even though it took me weeks to finish, it stuck with me. Not because it was perfect—but because it made me feel something. And that was enough.

💭 Have you ever taken a break from reading? What book brought you back?

💤 Confession #3: Blogging felt like a lot, and I was tired.

Writing blog posts takes time. Energy. Brain cells.
And lately? I’ve been using all of that to just exist, raise a toddler, and keep up with life.

Blogging wasn’t something I chose to pause—it just quietly slipped down my to-do list.
And honestly? That’s okay. Sometimes breaks are necessary.
Sometimes your brain needs to read without reviewing.

📦 Confession #4: My unread books could qualify as furniture.

You know it’s bad when your TBR starts to double as a bedside table.

✔ I bought new books
✔ I downloaded Kindle samples
✔ I even requested titles from the library
❌ I didn’t finish most of them

The TBR is not just winning. It’s laughing at me.

📚 What’s the most unread book on your shelf that you’ve pretended you’re going to get to soon?

💬 Confession #5: I missed blogging more than I expected.

At first, the break felt like freedom. No reviews, no pressure, no deadlines.
But then I started to miss it. Not the perfectionism—but the joy:

  • Sharing quotes that hit like a truck
  • Screaming into the internet about fictional people
  • Finding others who scream with you

So, I’m back—not with a grand plan or a rigid schedule, but with a craving for connection. I missed this space. I missed you.

Why I’m Returning to Book Blogging After a Break

Taking a break from book blogging gave me clarity.
I don’t need to post constantly, read everything, or have Pinterest-perfect photos.
I just need a story that moves me and a place to talk about it.

This blog has always been about that—about the joy of reading and sharing.
And I’m ready to get back to it. One messy, heartfelt post at a time.
